Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

That I must give you, because I never saw the vehicle "in the flesh". Obviously, things would look differently, as you said, when looking at the scooter, standing near to it! I am sure I would change my mind, standing at the side, or over the vehicle. I guess the winter months must feel "endless to ...

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

Hugo, I would personally prefer your suggestion no. 1. As I, (as you know) have a acquired taste - ha hem, I would only be satisfied, if the front end of the seat, could be lowered a couple of centimeters - to be almost horisontal to the footboards! The footboards, to my eye, defines the basics of "...

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

I see your point about paint, Hugo.
But what I also ment, was just to LOWER the front part of the seat slightly, to make it perfectly horisontal (which it isnt now...)

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

Hm. - not completely finished... Dont make me wrong - the new seats position is much better than before! But why not take the last tiny final steps? Because the seat is not parallel with the ground now. It should be lowered approx. 3-4 cm. at the front - and in the back, the white painted metal brac...

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

Just do it, Hugo - because I feel you wont really be satisfied before the seat is to your liking...
Also, an enormous difference (to the better) will be, if you also spray the white under seat parts in gold!

Congratulations - very, very good to hear, finally you got the motor to run properly! Many, many desperate & wrong things were tried, except, in the clear light of hindsights, this latests simple solution... You probably tried EVERYTHING in the book - to end with the correct remedy. Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

Hugo, I found it - the Danish/English company: thor-cap.com
They make & sell all kinds of durable ceramic condensers - at very reasonable price - typical in the range of 15-18 Euro

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

You can easily spoil a condenser by (too much) heat!! I had every kind of trouble with the 4 cylinder NIMBUS - every time the condenser became really hot... The motor stumpled & sputtered, with intermittent ignition. The solution: I bought myself a modern ceramic condenser, guaranteed to "survive" e...

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

About the "worn" screw:
Use a brand new screw, and set it in "chemical metal" - without overtightening it.

After a day or two, the chemical metal should be fully cured - and you will be surprised over the holding power!
But still, avoid to use all your strenght, by the final tightening...

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

Remember, the POWERDYNAMO ignition system can be run without a battery.
Its self generating, with powerful ceramic magnets.
Just a large capacitor (can also be bought at POWERDYNAMO) must be wired in, if you want to run without a battery...

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

Dear Hugo, there is also another solution, which i guess, will let both cylinders start instantly. The German company, POWERDYNAMO GMBH, produce a dedicated RUMI electronic ignition system, a socalled "bolt on & forget" system, working with the exsisting RUMI wiring loom. I have used this ignition ...

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

Good morning Hugo, it seems to me you are on the track of the problem now! If you are going to use the scooter intensively for driving, and not just as a "show piece" - why not use cast iron cylinders? (And keep the alu cylinders for a eventually future sale of the vehicle, to someone mostly intere...

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

Again, Hugo - I would simply run the Scooter some hundred kilometres - in order to let the piston rings "bed into" the cylinder(s) To bring the cylinders to a dedicated workshop, and have them measured, & compared, might be a somewhat expensive and inconclusively affair. Why not just run the thing, ...

Re: Cupolino RUMI Junior

Dear Rumisti - I just tried to help...
The site I proposed, showed numerous companies, producing small motorcycle fairings.
Some of those could easily make a copy, to use on a "Gentleman"!

I believe it will be very difficult to find "the real article" - but anyhow, might be possible?

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

Frankly, Hugo - a lot of hassle... Not sure if you learn anything useable from this. Why not drive the Scooter to the inspection, and get it registered, and get a number plate? Because, then you will be free to get some kilometers "under your belt" - and enjoy this astonishingly perfect restoration,...

Hugo, by an afterthought, it COULD be weak magnetism in one part of the flywheel.
Have you considered to have the flywheel changed, or remagnetizized?

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

Hey, Hugo - I believe you now have "peace of mind" regarding the motor (cylinders)' To put it simple, everything seems to be in order. But why does the right cylinder then not fire instantly? It could simply be "lack of use - lack of kilometres"! What if you drove a couple of 100 kilometres? Wouldnt...

leave the surface of (new) oil, approx. 10-15mm under the hole on top of gearbox.
After the test, you can easily use the oil for other purposes.

Re: Bol D'Or - New Project

Good morning Hugo - here comes a wild idea... This idea might in an quite easy way prove, if the seal has been mounted wrongly, or has been torn. Overfill the gearbox with oil, to a level higher than the uppermost part of the seal. If the seal is not working properly, you should have the right cylin...
