Rudolph, Hugo stated that this is an English speaking forum so we should use English terminoligy for technical items.

Re: My "new" old Bicarburatore

Lasse, I think you will find that L.E.D.'s only work on D.C. current and they are polorised. Hugo will have to fit a small battery to generate power. I am using L.E.D.'s and solar panels plus a 12volt battery to light my home.

Re: Looking for info on a "Late" 200cc

Hello JohnB, Wellcome and where are you situated?
I have a picture of a 200cc Rumi which was for sale sometime ago. I believe it was bought by an Austrian. (Rumi Vienna).

Re: Beautiful Moto Rumi Formichino for sale in UK (Ebay)

Graham, Do not rise to the bait! Ignore the purists comments! As you say ,it's another Rumi restored for the road. And what a great restoration! Back in the 1970/80s when I had my vast stock of Rumi parts I used to sell 'basket cases' to quite a number of people. They would come to my house and we w...

Re: Beautiful Moto Rumi Formichino for sale in UK (Ebay)

Claudio, It was not originally registered with that engine number! In U.K. you can change an engine but you have to notify the registration authority about it. (but can keep original registration number on plate).
This also applies to autos as well.
Best wishes to you.
Tony.

Re: Beautiful Moto Rumi Formichino for sale in UK (Ebay)

Hi Claudio, You are quite correct! (I did not notice the engine numbers) You have better eyesight than me! Evidently the crankcase has been replaced (probably because the original was beyond repair). It appears to have been replaced with an Argentine one. They are identical and I believe they were al...

RF125, If you read the advertisment properly in English you will see that it is not Argentina Rumi. It is an original Italian version registered in England in 1961. Where's the scam???? Please explain yourself.

The owner of this Formichino is a forum member. He is also a very enthusiastic Rumi owner and restorer and a keen rider, having ridden a number of 'Giro's' on different Rumi's. (both Sports and Scoiatollo's).

Re: My "new" old Bicarburatore

Hi Hugo, Copper grease consists of powdered copper suspended in a grease. It is used on the back of brake pads when assembling new pads. I use it frequently when assembling moving parts like brake shafts and spindles etc.It appears to give better lubrication and reduces tendancy of seizure. It also ...

Re: My "new" old Bicarburatore

Hi Hugo, You need a special compressor. I suggest you leave them as is, and wait till you try the bike on road.
When you fit bolts on sprocket apply a bit of copper grease to bolts, it helps if you have to remove them later.

Re: Formichino / Bol D'Or modify for racing

Hi Formic, Yes, your right, the cable from the handlebar switch entered through a hole in the speedo casting. It was not threaded through the handlebars. The angles were too tight. (You must have had a lot of patience to thread yours through). Various patterns of the 'dropped' handlebars were produc...

Re: Formichino / Bol D'Or modify for racing

Hi Graham, From the information I have received from the french club members, the Bol'd'Or in France is the same specification as the Tipo Sport in U.K. but is coloured gold.
In France it has single 22mm carburettor and upright handlebars.

Pess, I can assure you the picture I have shown you of my Bol'd'Or which I restored back around 1972 is exactly as they were sold in the U.K. The only thing is my one has the added carburettor cover and rear embellishers fitted.

Re: Question about cylinder?

No! You cannot fit 'junior' cylinders to your 'formichino'. Not unless you go to the further expense of aquiring new cylinder heads, exhaust pipes, exhaust flanges, inlet manifolds, carburettor and cutting away parts of the finning to clear the legsheilds. If you go to this expense and fit one 22mm ...

Alternatively find the biggest 'philips' screwdriver possible and grind the end to a flat. The beauty of this idea is that the screwdriver has a hexagon adjacent to the handle to enable an open ended spanner to give more purchase.

Re: My "new" old Bicarburatore

If you connect your horn up via a battery, all you will get is a 'CLICK'. This is because your horn is AC but the battery is DC. A problem you will have if you do not instal a resistor for the pilot lamp is that your tail lamp bulb and your pilot lamp bulb will 'blow'. The type of switch you have (C...

Re: My "new" old Bicarburatore

The 'dropping resistor' is a resistant coil which 'drops' the amperage for a sidelamp bulb.(normally 5 watt). The coil is in other words a 20 watt resistor. You show on your diagram a red wire to the resistor coil and one away to the handlebar switch then you have a blue wire connected to the horn. ...

Re: My "new" old Bicarburatore

Sorry to contradict you Dave!!!!
Hugo, you have a 'live' wire to one contact, then the other contact should wire up to the horn button. See the wiring diagram for the formichino. The horn button 'earths out' on to the handlebar.
