A barn full of Rumis..

Post by osteoderm » Thu Sep 05, 2019 2:34 pm

Hello!

I am myself new to Rumi, but I have been recently engaged to help an older enthusiast to sort, clean, and catalog his Rumi projects and parts. The owner has been quietly collecting Rumi for over 60 years, but now that he is no longer able to use the bikes as he has previously enjoyed, it is time to "clean out the barn".

The core of the collection are two Juniors and two Formachinos, with bins and bins of spare parts for both.

Of the Juniors, one is a complete Italian Earles model, previously restored, but left in storage for many years. I am currently cleaning this bike up and getting it into running condition.

The other Junior is a (probably) Argentinian bike, 90% complete but disassembled, which I am assembling.

Of the two Formachinos, one is complete and assembled, but has not been running for many years. The other was disassembled for a planned restoration, with many new parts.

The owner (an American) enjoyed a long correspondence with Gösta Karlsson and travelled several times to Europe to meet other enthusiasts and collect parts. As a result, we have bins and bins of spares; several engines, NOS castings, controls, lights, shocks, wheels, carburators, etc... Some of these parts will be used to complete the bikes in assembly, but most are intended be made available for sale or trade.

If the Rumis can be sorted out, we may move on to cleaning up the rest of the unrestored collection: 9 vintage Honda, CZ, Batavus, BSA, Condor.. and a few I have yet to completely identify!

We're looking forward to connecting with fellow Rumi enthusiasts here in the USA and abroad!

Hi Yuri,

Welcome to the forum.

Please add photos to the forum for us to see the parts and bikes, also together with prices for any interested member of this forum knows what we are talking about.

Looking forward to see those Rumi and parts.

Greets,
Hugo

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm still sorting through the boxes of parts, seeing what we need to complete the assembly of the bikes, and what can be sold directly Here's just a quick sampling..

Hi!

Impressive indeed. :D

Can You please measure those exhaust nuts? I need two for my Scoiattolo, They need to be M36x1,5, Rudolf is making me two but original is better =)

Also, Can you possibly have a original CEV lightswitch that will fit my Scoiattolo?

BR

Yes, I'm getting all the messages! It's a little overwhelming, but good. At the moment, all of our effort is going into getting the two Juniors running and ready for sale. After that (hopefully in the next couple of weeks) we'll be able to focus more on pricing parts and getting packets in the mail.

Thanks for the update Yuri. All the best with the Juniors! ;)
