Wiring diagram for the Rumi Scoiattlo dynastart

Post by Knud Kristensen » Wed Sep 19, 2012 10:26 am

Hello all
Does anybody have or know where to find a wiring diagram for the dynastart used on the Scoiattolo scooter?
I have found the Boch wiring diagram for the dynastart used on the BMW 600 and the Isetta on the internet, but I am not sure it is identical to the one used by Rumi.
:?:
Thank you in advance
Knud

Hello Hugo
No, not yet. I have had the system completely apart and checked how connections are made. I trust that I now can draw up the diagram myself, but only time will tell if it will work.
As I have had it running and working in the past, it should be possible. However i my recollection it is a bit unusual. It will charge with 6 volts and start on 12 volts.
My examination confirms this, as i have two battery covers and the series winding is completely seperated from other parts and connections.
I will keep forum informed about the result whwn i try it out in some months.
Thanks for your interest
Best regards Knud :D

Hello Martin
Sorry I have not yet solved the problem because I have been away from the work in a period, but I have just got my Rumi back up running and wil be working on it this autumn.
If of any help to you in the meantime, there is a good description of the Bosch Dynasart on the internet ( www.isettadoc.com).
But there is a significant difference because the Rumi will charge with 6 volts and start with 12 volts on a separate winding.
Best Regards

Maybe is not a good idea, not sure, but if the dynastart needs 12v, why not to fully convert the Scoiattolo into a 12v system with the known Powerdynamo, Rex Caunt or Parmakit convertion electronic ignition systems and forget about the 6v (break points, etc)?

Hello Martin
I will look for the diagram of the electric system of the scoiattolo. In principle, you have all these parts of the system?

I believe the bond three wheeler and tippin invalid car used the same system, but look on the UK Rumi Club site under for sale wanted section. Look at the Rumi that Guy Robinson is selling that belonged to his father, another solution perhaps.

Hi All!

Thanks for all replys!

@Juan: Have not had the time to check all parts of the system, will soon and get back to You with pictures. The previous owner said it was a AVV. Please check if You can find the electrical scheme. =)

@Knud & Hugo:

I have a dynastart on my NSU Prima V as well, so i know the basics. On the prima there is two six volt batteries in series and the whole system becomes twelve volts on it. The parts look quite similar on pictures!

Btw, here's a bad picture of my squirrel, more to come =)

Hey every body involved.
Thank you very much. This is great and will save me a lot of work. This was the peace missing and during the next moths I hope to finish the work on my scooter. It is running ok, but only when I charge the batteries when they are low.
This was the peace missing to get it all up to normal running condition.
Thank you very much
