Rumi 125 Turismo from Switzerland

Post by amstein » Fri Sep 28, 2018 4:36 pm

Hello,

My name is Frédéric from Switzerland. I registered on this forum in 2016.
I decided to restore the Rumi of my father that is sleeping under a cover since 1987..

After long reading of your experience on this forum (Thank you a lot at all) I disassemble the Rumi and find a lot of surprise. Now, 2 Years after, I started again for finishing this Year.
I'm very comfuse of the year of this Rumi 1951-1953 or? The number on the frame is 7211 and for the engine *1B9238*

Hi Frédéric,

It is strange to tell you Welcome to the forum when you are registered and reading here since 2 years ago, but even do, ...... Welcome!!!!!!!!!

It is great that you found good information that helped with your restoration, that was (and still is) the purposed of the forum when it was created originally almost 10 years ago, to help people that can not find information, as happened to me when bought my first Rumi 12 years ago. It is very satisfying to see that another person found this forum useful.

Hopefully somebody will clarify your question about the year of your father's Rumi.

Again, welcome to this community of crazy Rumi entusiast

Greets,
Hugo

Thank’s Hugo,

I’m not very good in English, maybe is the reason of my silence or better to learn before writing.

Hello,
can someone tell me if the tooth is broken or it's normal. How much tooth do you have?
Thank you for your help.
Cheers, Fred

Hi Fred,

Here I send you a few links where you can see two of them.

Link 01:
https://www.subito.it/accessori-moto/se ... 880454.htm

Link 02:
https://formichino.com/forum/download/file.php?id=1706

I would say yours look a bit shorter, perhaps in the Turismo (3 gears engine) that is correct, I really don't know, but hopefully somebody is going to give you the final correct answer.

Greets,
Hugo

Hi Hugo,

thank you for the link!

The first two teeth are worn and my axis has play on the brass ring. This creates a problem for kick start. :(

And another question, below the clutch, do you have or does someone have that shoulder like the picture? Does this play a role in the friction of the spacer on the bearing?

Frederic don't worry. The half tooth clears start gear on engagement and other gear slight wear. More important to replace bush, so no slack present.

Hello everyone,
I'm happy to show you the completed project on this Christmas day!

I just drove 3 km to confirm that this rumi can hit the road after 30 years of sleep!!

I thank you a lot for all information you wrote on this forum and many thank to Rudolph for the tips and mecanicals parts.

I put some pictures but if you need others for comparison, you can ask me without any problem.

Cheers and happy christmas!

Thank you Hugo,

The most interesting finds during the renovation are the electric lugs, the 20 centesimi used as a washer and the saddle.

This 3 things smell the old time.. :P
